Steps to Configure SMS Messaging in MXTS

Before the system can send SMS messages, the following steps must be performed:

  • Turn on the feature flag ‘sms.enabled’.

  • Configure the Messagebird account.

    • Add a subaccount of the Maxxton account (link).

  • Add API keys to the mxt-cloud configuration.

  • Configure Registered senders for the countries used by the customer.

    • In certain countries, local restrictions apply. The sender must be registered per country to avoid messages being blocked. The list of restrictions can be found here.

    • Use this information when adding a registered sender.

      • Different data is required per country.

      • Message type: Transactional

      • Sector: Hospitality and Travel

      • Call to Action URL: https://maps.google.com?

      • Description of the usage purpose: The customer is kept informed about their reservation via SMS messages.

      • SMS template: Your vacation is about to begin! You are welcome at the resort from 15:00. Upon arrival, you can drive straight to your Accommodation. Navigate via: https://maps.google.com?. Have a great trip!

  • Create an SMS template.

    • Ensure that the sender exactly matches the configured ‘Registered sender’.
