Customized Search Result page

Step 1. Cloning the page and template

Go to the Search Result page you want to clone, and click on 'Clone' on the right menu pane.

After pressing the 'Clone' button you are taken back to the overview of pages. The name of the new page is the name of the page you cloned and '...copy'.

Type in the name of the cloned page, or simply 'copy', in the search field and your newly cloned page will show up.

I cloned the Family Vacations Search result page, and hence the name.

Go to the page by clicking on it, and give it a fitting name. For this page I want to show units with the amenities Nightlife and therefore I give the page the name 'Search Result Page - Nightlife'.

The dynamic part, the search result itself, is a template. Therefore we also need to clone the template that is used on the page we just cloned.  If you are not sure about what the template is named, navigate to the page and look at the widgets in the hierarchy.

In this case the template is named the same as the page we cloned.

Then navigate to the page 'Templates',  which you can find in the left menu pane.

Search for the template you just found and click on it.

Clone the template and give it a fitting name. I named this template 'Search Results - Nightlife' so I know which page it belongs to.

Step 2. Add your page to the sitemap

Navigate to 'Sites' in the left menu. Open the widgets bar next to the hierarchy of pages, and scroll down to the bottom where you will find you newly created page.

Drag the page into the structure and click save. Now we will give the page a friendly URL.

Click edit on the widget and set the friendly URL and choose the correct Site and Page, save the changes.

You can now check our your new public page on www.yoururl.maxxton.net/yourfriendlyurl

Step 3. Specify the Search Result conditions

Open the template you just cloned and go to the bottom of the hierarchy, here you will find the widget 'Unitsearch Container'

Click 'edit' and Navigate to the 'Options' tab.

(warning) Please note that this guide was made while the widget was still in testing, hence some of the names of the widgets/sections may have changed when you read this.

As shown below you will see several options.

  • Resource id let you specify the resources you want to be shown.
  • The Dynamic plugin let you specify the amenities.
  • Special codes let you specify codes.
  • Resort let you specify resorts.

Clicking on e.g. the dynamic plugin gives you a scroll down list with the options you have.

(warning)(warning) Make sure that you choose an amenity that is also included in the filters on your search result page. E.g. you may have 'Pool' as an amenity the user can choose, but not 'Swimming Pool'.

As you see on the screenshot above 'Family Friendly' was already chosen in the template we cloned, therefore we deselect it by clicking on the 'x' and add 'Nightlife' and 'Pool'.

It is recommended to check on your search result page what the results are being shown with the different filters on, you want to avoid too few or no results.

Save your changes on the template and go to your new page.

Step 4. Add the correct template to your page.

Go to the page you cloned, in this example 'Search Results - Nightlife', and scroll down until you see the template widget

Remove the template widget by clicking on the garbage can, and open the widget panel to the right. Click on 'Other Widgets' and then 'Template' and scroll down until you find your newly created template. It will most likely be in the bottom of the list.

Drag the widget into your structure, where the template you just deleted was located, as shown below.

Click Save and open a new tab where you paste in the URL of your page that you defined in Step 2. Check the filter panel to see that the amenities we just chose is default on your new page! (star)

The Map will automatically move based on where your results are.
