Accommodation type groups

Introduction

With the "Accommodation Type Groups" feature, it is possible to create groups of accommodation types based on specific parameters/criteria, for example, a 4-person Bungalow with 2 bedrooms having a quality level of 3 stars.

This functionality enhances the

  • Ability to quickly filter accommodation types based on multiple filters like capacity, number of bedrooms, quality levels, accommodation kinds, etc without having to select them manually every time,

  • Helps filter relevant accommodation types for configuration in modules like Content Manager, Rate Manager, and Customer care module (for Loyalty program)

  • Analyze inventory trends in your BI solutions

Kindly note, that this feature is only available within Maxxton Software, and if required can be accessed via the API.

Initial set up of Accommodation type groups

Prerequisites

To access and manage the "Accommodation Type groups" feature, (which needs to be enabled by Maxxton teams), the user needs to navigate to the Back-Office Manager. Within a given role, select the Content Manager in the “Assigned rights” card. Navigate to the permission “Content Manager - Accommodation type groups“ to activate the permission for that role. Users with this permission will be able to:

  • Manage Accommodation Type groups

  • Link/Unlink accommodation types to/from groups

Accessing Accommodation type groups

To access the accommodation type groups page, follow the path below :

Maxxton Software Home Page > Content Manager > Configuration > Accommodation Type Groups

  1. Navigate to the "Content Manager" module.

  2. Select the configuration tab

  3. Navigate to the "Accommodation Type groups" sub-tab

Setup of Accommodation Type groups

  1. Content Manager > Configuration

    • Go to the "Configuration" menu in the "Content Manager."

    • Select "Accommodation Type groups" from the menu.

    • Click on “Create Accommodation type group“.

    • In Step 1, add the name of the group, code (used only for internal purposes) and description, if any. Click on “Next step“.

    • In Step 2, apply the filters to select the accommodation types to link to the group. Filters can be Location, Name, Code, Quality levels, Number of Bedrooms, Accommodation kind, and more. Select the required accommodations. Click on “Create accommodation type group“.

    • “Translations” can also be added for the Accommodation type groups from the “Translations“ card.

  2. Linking Accommodation Types to Groups

  • Link accommodation types to existing Accommodation type groups:

    • Go to the “Linked Accommodation types“ card in the Accommodation type group details page.

    • Click on “Add accommodation types“. The “Link accommodation types“ pop-up opens up.

    • Apply the filters to select the accommodation types in this pop-up to link to the group. Filters can be Location, Name, Code, Quality levels, Number of Bedrooms, Accommodation kind, and more. Select the required accommodations. Click on “Create accommodation type group“.

  • Moving accommodation types from one group to another

    • Move the accommodation types linked to one Accommodation type group to another group

    • Go to the “Linked Accommodation types“ card in the Accommodation type group details page.

    • Select the accommodation types to move to another group by clicking on the check-boxes

    • Then click on “Move accommodation types“. The “Move accommodation types“ pop-up opens up.

    • Choose the Accommodation type group where the selected accommodation types are to be moved.

Managing Accommodation type groups

New accommodation type creation

  • Select the Accommodation type groups when creating new accommodation types. Refer to the following page to learn more about how to create accommodation types.

    • Go to Content Manager > Accommodation types menu

    • Click on “Create accommodation types“

    • While creating a new accommodation type, select the respective Accommodation type group to be linked to the accommodation type being created

    • Note, selection of Accommodation type group is not required for Parent accommodation types

Existing accommodation type

  • Link Accommodation type groups to existing accommodation types

    • Go to Content Manager > Accommodation types menu

    • Select the required accommodation type

    • In the “General“ section of the accommodation types, select the required Accommodation type group from the drop-down

    • Note, selection of Accommodation type group is not required for Parent accommodation types

Archiving Accommodation type group

  • It is possible to archive an Accommodation type group if no accommodation types are linked to it.

    • Go to Content Manager > Accommodation types menu

    • Select the Accommodation type group to be archived

    • Go to the 3 dots menu on the top right

    • Select the “Archive“ option

    • If there are no linked accommodation types, simply archive the Accommodation type groups. If there are linked accommodation types then can move the linked accommodation types to another group and then archive the Accommodation type group

Using created Accommodation type groups as filters

  • Once the Accommodation type groups are created, they can be used to filter accommodation types within various areas in Maxxton Software to add configuration

    • Content Manager > Choose the Accommodation type group filter in various menus where the list of accommodation types is shown like

      • Batch updates > Accommodation types batch updates

      • Batch updates > Add-ons > Link or updated Accommodation types as mandatory or additional bookable

      • Accommodation type list page > In the Advanced search option

      • Add-ons > Linked accommodation types (as Mandatory or additional bookable)

      • Add-on rate > When creating “Rate per accommodation/add-on/offer/kind

      • Upsell/Upgrade configuration at accommodation type or batch update level etc.

    • Rate Manager > Choose the Accommodation type group filter in various menus where the list of accommodation types is shown like

      • Batch updates

      • Offers > When linking accommodation types to Offers

    • Customer care > Choose the Accommodation type group filter in various menus where the list of accommodation types is shown like

      • Loyalty program reward/redemption rule configuration

Identifying accommodation types without Accommodation type group

  • The accommodation types where no Accommodation type group is linked can be identified from the Content Manager dashboard

    • Go to Content Manager > Dashboard

    • Click on“Missing Accommodation type groups“ '

    • The list of accommodation types where no Accommodation type group is linked can be seen. It is also possible to export this list from the dashboard in Excel if required.

Dependencies

Dependencies

  • Kindly note that the configuration of Accommodation type groups (if enabled) is mandatory for the bookable accommodation types (consisting of actual units). It is not required for the parent-level accommodation types.

  • First, at least one Accommodation type group should be created if you wish to create bookable Accommodation types in Maxxton Software
